Breast Implant revision or removal
Breast Implant revision or removal at Aestheticon®
Breast Implants: When is it advisable to remove or replace an implant?
For women, who underwent already a breast augmentation surgery with implants and have concerns, a revision or removal surgery needs to be considered.
In other cases, the tissue around the implants gets tight and squeezes it, which is called a capsular contracture. Very rare are implant ruptures, which make it necessary to remove or replace the implant.
Considering your individual desire, the plastic/ aesthetic surgeon and breast specialist at Aesthetion® will give you detailed advice, whether the implant should just be removed, should be removed and replaced later or if it is possible to replace the implant with a new one during one and the same surgical procedure.
The breast implant revision/ removal surgery: How will it be performed and what about recovery?
The first step will be the removal of the implants. Optimally, at the previous incision areas, the plastic surgeon will make an incision and remove the implants. Depending on the individual condition, adherences and contractures of the surrounding breast tissue need to be mobilized in order to soften the tissue and to regain a natural feeling.
In case a new implant will be inserted, you can choose between anatomic tear-drop-shaped and round implants and further various features. At Aestheticon® we ensure to provide only implants of highest quality, which are either FDA-approved or CE-marked. Regarding further information to this topic, we are pleased to refer to our detailed information about “Enlargement With Implants or Fat” and Aestheticon®’s stringent requirements for the quality of surgical techniques and implant materials.
Implant revision surgeries are performed under general anesthesia with a hospital stay of 1 to 2 days. After a recovery time of 5 to 7 days, you can resume your daily routine, but you should avoid strenuous activities for several weeks in order to support the healing process.
Possible Risks: What kind of complications can occur after a breast surgery?

Nevertheless we will mention some possible complications: Swelling, breast pain, after-bleeding, capsular or rupture, infection and scarring.
